Ladner was named after Thomas and William Ladner who came here in 1868 and started large farming and fishing operations off the banks of the Fraser river. The ferry at Captains Cove in Ladner allowed access to Richmond and it wasn’t until 1959 that the tunnel was built and the ferry was no longer needed.
